The Flanders Sons of American Legion (SAL) Squadron Post 65 was organized in 1939, under the direction of Charles L. (Duke) Hamilton.

The corps competed in the annual state convention, placing 4th, 2nd & 3rd in 1940, 1941 & 1942 respectively and, after remaining active from 1943 to 1945, was crowned the 1946 “SAL” state champions. The Flanders Post, sporting their unique Scotch Highland uniforms in honor of the "Princess Pat" Highlanders Division from World War I along with the color guard in authentic Clan Tartan, posted 3rd, 4th , 7th & 2nd place finishes from 1947 to 1950 in state championships.

The unit also competed every year at the “March of Champions” in Baltimore, often coming in 3rd place behind St. James Dundalk Cadets SAL Post 38 and the White Knights of the Hamilton SAL Post 20. The corps instructors over the years included Drum Instructor was William Murphy on percussion, Owens Pomeroy on brass & King C.D. Hart as musical arranger. After one season performing as a parade group, the Squadron went inactive until 1964, when the Flanders Post reorganized and made a final appearance in the Legion state contest, placing in 8th position.

They disbanded in 1965.
