"The Diplomats like many Jr. corps was started by former members of Sr. corps (Edison Lamplighters/St Clair Shores Vanguards) to give their kids some place to march and give kids in the area something constructive to do. The Dips started marching parades in 1967 and their first show was MI American Legion State1967. They wore old Edison Lamplighter uniforms along with using their horns and drums. In 1968 they marched shows all over Mi. and Ohio. Their repetoire included , Call Me, Born Free, What Now My Love, Soulfinger, and I See Your Face Before Me. The 1969 season started with new uniforms and music but small numbers kept the corps from advancing. The one bright spot was the color guard winning the VFW state title. The color guard continued to march the winter guard season but over the winter most of the horns and drummers went to the Marauders or St Clair Shores Vanguards."
